Land Registry Title Deeds and Plans for the UK and Ireland

In Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland obtaining a list of properties owned by a person on company is straight forward. You can search by name. In England & Wales, however, this type of search is more complex. This is because the search is made at a specialised department of the Land Registry, known as the Land Charges department. The register of properties held here is not a public register and can only be made if one of the following criteria are met:

	The applicant can provide a letter signed by the owner authorising the search
	The applicant has a court order authorising the search
	The applicant has a power of attorney to act on behalf of the owner
	The applicant is a trustee on behalf of the owner
	The applicant has a bankruptcy order against the owner

This search is called a "Properties Owned" search. It is a specialised search. To locate the application form you should click on the Properties Owned link in the blue menu on the home page.

Once you click the "Buy Now" button you will be taken to the order form. This is straight forward to fill in. When you submit the form we will upload a letter into your personal download area, which you should have signed by the owner. This should then be posted to us. If the letter is unnecessary because one of the other criteria listed above applies, rather than return the letter to us you should forward to us a copy of either the court order, power of attorney, trust deed or bankruptcy order.

Once we have one of the above documents we will then proceed with your search. As every Land Registry office in England & Wales has to be searched it may take 10 days or thereabouts for this search to be completed.

When completed the search will provide the full addresses of all the properties owned by the person searched against. On the application form you will have been given the option of authorising us to obtain copies of the Title Registers for each of these properties. If you have selected this option you will receive each register in addiction to the list of properties.
