The arrival of April
has seen the traditional spring bounce in
house prices with major building societies
showing an average increase during March
of around 1%. This and the arrival of warmer
weather will, for many, spark off the search
for a piece of land upon which to build
their dream home. |

This is becoming an ever
more popular route for those who want to design
or at least choose their own style of property
and don’t want to be part of a large estate.
This can be a very profitable undertaking. When
the price of the land and the building of the
property are added together and compared to the
market price there is usually an immediate profit
available should a sale be contemplated. |

It has become increasingly
difficult to find a suitable building plot. If
you have found a field, a wood, a derelict piece
of land, or a space between to existing properties,
whether a greenfield or a brownfield site, then
LandSearch can help you identify the owner. We
have a full range of property searches and can
help even when the correct postal address is not
known. |

The Halifax Building Society
reported in March that house prices were rising
at an annual rate of 5.5% with the North doing
better than the South. |
| |
The Nationwide Building Society’s
chief economist, Fionnuala Earley, said “The
pick up in prices in March continues the upward
trend we have seen since the autumn, which has
been supported by a solid return of buyers”. |
