Part 2 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003
created the rural community 'pre-emptive' right
to buy. In order to have the right to buy when
land is marketed for sale, community bodies will
need to have pre-registered their interest.
Applications for registration are made to Scottish
Ministers who decide whether registration will
be allowed. Rural community bodies' interests
in land will be registered by the Keeper of the
Registers of Scotland (RoS).
