How can I find
the owner of property that has no proper postal
address? |
We can find the
owner of registered property if we know either
the title number, the full postal address or
if we search using a plan to identify the property.
In this case we would obtain a plan for you
and use this to identify the property. |

|
What type of property
can I search for using a plan? |
Examples of types
of property without a full postal address that
we can search for are:
|
| |
fields |
| |
ruins |
| |
derelict properties that no longer have a postcode |
| |
vacant or waste land |
| |
woodland |
| |
narrow strips of land, e.g. grass verges |
| |
alleyways |
| |
reservoirs |
| |
lakes |

|
I don't have a plan.
Can I still search? |
The application
form will ask you for the address of 2 nearby
properties. We ask this information so that
we can obtain a plan of a nearby property for
you. This will also show the property you wish
us to search, and we will use it to identify
your property. |

|
How do I submit my
search application? |
You apply for a
Title Register search in the usual way. You will
be given a choice as to whether to search for
a property with a full postal address or one without
a full address. You select the latter option,
which will take you to a different form designed
for properties without an address. |

|
I have a plan. How
do I get it to you so that it is linked to my search?
|
When completing
the application form there is an option to send
an email to us to which you can attach a copy
of your plan. You need to ensure that you insert
your User Name on this email. Having submitted
the email you then return to the form and finish
completing it. We will marry this email to your
search instructions. Please only send us a plan
if it is at the correct scale, i.e. 1:1250. If
the scale is less than this the Land Registry
will not accept it. |

|
What happens after
you obtain the plan? |
The plan is posted
to you and uploaded to your secure area on our
web site, so that you can mark the land on
it that you wish us to search. The plan is then
compared to the Land Registry Index Maps, which
will reveal the title number for the land. Once
we have this we can complete your search. |
